Cruisin' Cali

This weekend we drove to L.A. for a little Hollywood glamour. Friday night after we checked into the hotel, we scoped out the scene on the 3rd street promenade in downtown Santa Monica. The local nightlife included lots of interesting people and a wide variety of street performers - singers, dancers and quite a few people chanting about the end of the world.

Saturday we had breakfast at a French restaurant where we feasted on omelets and crusty French bread smothered with Nutella.

After breakfast, we took a leisurely stroll through the farmer's market, down to the beach and onto the pier. At the pier, we watched some men fishing and went for a spin on the roller coaster.

The view from the top was great but we were holding on too tightly to snap any photos!

This is a photo of me after the 'hairaising' ride. On the way out, we couldn't resist taking this photo of a sign advertising everything from bait to ice cream. "I'd like the nightcrawler swirl on a cake cone."
