Friday night mom and Larry flew in from Vegas where they had been at a meeting. We spent the evening catching up over sandwiches. Saturday we went to Scottsdale and walked around the galleries. They were having a big art festival in the park so we spent some time wandering through the paintings and fountains, enjoying the beautiful Arizona sunshine. We were happy to get some free samples of Starbuck's holiday drinks, but decidedly less happy
when we elected to try a free sample of margarita mix spiked with hot sauce. Yuck and ouch. We stopped to admire some copper work by a local artist and sample traditional Indian Fry bread. On the way out, Larry took some artistic pictures with our shadows as we contemplated where to go to lunch.
We decided on our favorite Mexican restaurant, Los Olives. We sat in what David and I call the "mushroom room" because it's all blue and it feels like what I imagine it would feel like to be inside a mushroom. We were like Smurfs!
Full and a little sleepy from our lunch, we headed over to Carefree where mom and Larry posed for this picture of them on Easy Street. Our time on Easy Street ended with some excitement when the cactus pictured here jumped out of the ground and stuck in my leg. Ok, maybe it didn't exactly "jump" out, maybe I might have walked into it... David and mom helped me get the spikes out and we limped home for dinner.
