Welcome to AZ

We explored around a little this weekend and found a fun clothing swap in Tempe and an organic food store with a raw cafe that serves only raw vegan food. It was closed so we didn't get to try the "pizza" on the menu (some combo of fake cheese and veggies on a nut crust) but we did get to browse in the store and try some acai, a purple Brazilian fruit juice that's supposed to be good for whatever ails you. We didn't feel any magic transformations, but the juice did help wash down some tofu and spelt snacks.

Sunday we went tubing on the Salt River, about an hour from downtown Phoenix. We got there late in the day so we did the 2 hour river ride (they have 4 and 6 also) but 2 was perfect. The water was super cold and a nice change from the desert heat. The most exciting part of the river was actually the bus ride to get there. The road was winding and the driver didn't believe in doing anything less than 60/mph. We were laughing and screaming as we tried to hold on and avoid being swallowed by the sea of inner-tubes sloshing around the bus. The river ride, although not as exciting, was really beautiful. Seeing the mountains and the desert scenery up close as the river wound through the area was a real treat. We finished the day with a trip to Sonic (of course!) for our favorites -- limeade and a sundae.
