Tonight we went to see Dar Williams (a long-time favorite of both of ours). She was playing at "The Camp" - an outdoor area at the Cave Creek Coffee Company. We weren't sure what it would be like, but the place and the performance exceeded all our expectations. The Camp is a collection of 50 or so chairs, a stage, and a campfire. We watched Dar up close and sang along as the fire blazed and the twinkling lights overhead swayed in the breeze.
It was a beautiful setting, a wonderful concert, and a night I know I won't soon forget. I couldn't find a picture of the performance area, but this is a photo of the wine bar at Cave Creek Coffee. They have a coffee area, a wine bar, and a restaurant. We heard from some locals that the zoning board was trying to stop concerts there because of the noise. That would be a real loss and we hope they decide not to fight the music.
